I have been thinking about doing a bare bones compositing tutorial for a while now, but was hesitant that I could whip something together in under 15 minutes. I say 15 minutes for 2 reason, I don’ t have the attention span to watch a 15 minute tutorial (therefore you shouldn’t either) and I think that is all I can record on YouTube without going YouTube pro or something of that nature. I did, however, find some subject matter that would work and actually looks pretty good for a quick demo.
I have to throw out a quick caveat, compositing can take hours! This tutorial was meant to get you thinking outside the post processing box. Simply planting the seed! If you want some great books on layering and compositing check out Matt Kloskowski’s Layers or Photoshop Compositing Secrets. However, if you want the quick run down, check out my bare bones Compositing tutorial below.
Oh and don’t forget to head over to my wife’s blog Sticky Marshmallows for all kinds of info on cakes, recipes, babies and life!
